Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is an American producer and actress who has been recognized by her highly commendable performances in films such as Broadcast News The Firm The Piano and The Incredibles. Holly Hunter was awarded numerous prizes and awards, among them the Oscar for her role in the film Piano. The successful actress began her career in acting on the stage by performing in a myriad of Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. Enthusiastic about acting from her childhood, she performed Helen Keller in a play in fifth grade. Following a bout of mumps, she went blind on the other side the ear. However, this was not enough to stop her desire to be an actress. In college she studied theatre as well as later moving from Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania, to New York City in pursuit of her goal. In a chance encounter she was stuck in an elevator alongside playwright Beth Henley and the two collaborated in the Broadway Crimes of the Heart that made Hunter's debut. When she moved from New York to Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get films to play. The role of a supporting actress was found in Swing Shift. She has since appeared in several television series, films as well as movies throughout the span of a 30 year career. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star and also the Women in Film Lucy Award.
